About West Louisiana Dance Theatre

West Louisiana Dance Theatre began in 2013 to provide our area dancers with an opportunity to perform a classic ballet, and the community an opportunity to enjoy the performing arts locally. We are proud to say we have grown from performing one classical ballet to also performing a second Christmas show, and school field trip shows, annually. We have provided a variety of Christmas performances to accommodate all of our patrons’ interest, from The Nightmare Before Christmas to The Grinch, in addition to our annual performance of The Nutcracker.

Our dancers are top performers from Joan Kathey Dance Center who train with West La Dance Theatre, in addition to their regular dance classes. We have also had the privilege of featuring professional dancers from Ballet San Antonio, Boulder Ballet, Grand Rapids Ballet, and Richmond Ballet, and we work closely with Northwestern State University’s School of Creative and Performing Arts to provide professional dance experience to their senior dancers.

Principle Dancers

  • Aaliyah Smith is the daughter of Renzi Smith and Andrea Johnson. She has studied dance at Joan Kathey Dance Center for 5 years. Aaliyah is a Senior at Leesville High School.

  • Addy Wright, daughter of Chris and Mandy Wright, has spent 14 years studying dance at the Joan Kathey Dance Center and is currently a junior at Leesville High School.

  • Chloe Potts is the daughter of Ashley and Brandon Strickland, Kiah Potts, and Erica Potts. She has studied dance at Joan Kathey Dance Center for 11 years. Chloe is a Senior at Leesville High School.

  • Allie Wittenhagen, daughter of Mark and Amanda Wittenhagen, has been studying dance for 15 years at Joan Kathey Dance Center, and is currently a senior at Leesville High School.

  • Avery Tanner is the daughter of Jake and Angela Tanner. She has studied dance at Joan Kathey Dance Center for 12 years. Avery is a Junior at Leesville High School.

  • Charleigh Travis is the daughter of Curt and Kimberly Belton and Neal Travis. She has studied dance for 16 years at Academy FTK and Joan Kathey Dance Center. Charleigh is a Senior at Leesville High School.

  • Kortney Carlock is the daughter of Victor and Jennifer Carlock. She has studied dance at Joan Kathey Dance Center for 5 years and is a Sophomore at Hicks High School.

  • Vanessa Craft is the daughter of Crispin and Danielle Craft. She has studied dance at Joan Kathey Dance Center for 12 years. Vanessa is a Sophomore at Leesville High School.

  • Gabriella Marin is the daughter of Armando and Doris Marin. She has studied dance at Joan Kathey Dance Center for 15 years. Gabriella is a Junior at Anacoco High School.

  • Gabrielle Thomason is the daughter of Christopher and Deanna Thomason. She has studied dance at Joan Kathey Dance Center for 14 years. Gabby is a Junior at Leesville High School.

  • Tiana Moore , daughter of Frank and Tina Moore, has been studying dance at the Joan Kathey Dance Center for 8 years. She is currently a sophomore at Leesville High School.

  • Rebecca Fournier , daughter of Chris and Tanya Fournier, has been studying dance at Joan Kathey Dance Center for an impressive 14 years. She is currently a senior at Leesville High School.

  • Reese Belton is the daughter of Brooke Belton, and Curt and Kimberly Belton. She has studied dance at Joan Kathey Dance Center for 15 years. Reese is a Senior at Leesville High School.
